Do We Numb The Ears?
Yes, we do offer numbing! The numbing we offer is a 5% topical lidocaine cream. There are age restrictions, so please read below to see which may apply to you!
Age Restrictions
Ages 3 years and below
For minors, verbal approval from a pediatrician is REQUIRED to use numbing cream, as some may not recommend it due to potential reactions or allergies. Without this approval, we can’t apply the cream. The numbing cream we use is 5% topical lidocaine.
We typically offer partial numbing for babies and toddlers, which helps take the edge off but there will still be a small pinch.
- Partial Numbing: Come at your scheduled appointment time, let the piercer know you’ve gotten approval, and we’ll apply the cream while you choose your earrings and go over aftercare. The ears will be partially numb, so there will still be a slight pinch.
- Full numbing: You’ll need to arrive 20 minutes before your appointment to apply the cream. It’s important that the cream stays on for the full 20 minutes without being rubbed off, which can be difficult for some children at this age. If the cream rubs off, we’ll need to remove it entirely, as it should only be applied to the ears
Ages 4-17
For minors, verbal approval from a pediatrician is REQUIRED to use numbing cream. Without this confirmation, we cannot apply it. The numbing cream we use contains 5% topical lidocaine, and both full and partial numbing are available for this age group.
- Full Numbing: Arrive 20 minutes early for application. You will leave and return at your scheduled appointment time or sit in our garden to wait if weather permits for the 20 minutes it takes to numb.
- Partial Numbing: Arrive at your scheduled time and inform the piercer that you have approval for numbing. We will apply it while you choose your earrings and review aftercare. The ears will be partially numb, which may reduce discomfort but will still leave a slight pinch.
Ages 18+
- Full Numbing: Arrive 20 minutes early, and we’ll apply numbing cream. You will leave and return at your scheduled appointment time or sit in our garden to wait if weather permits for the 20 minutes it takes to numb.
- Partial Numbing: Arrive at your scheduled time, inform the piercer you have approval for numbing, and we’ll apply the numbing cream while you choose your earrings and go over aftercare. Your ears will be partially numb, reducing discomfort, though you may still feel a pinch.
For children under 18, there are numbing restrictions. Please refer to our Numbing Information page or the booking details for specific age guidelines.
