How do Threadless Flatbacks Work?

Threadless flatbacks have custom fit posts where you choose the size that best fits the thickness of your ear.

When piercing we do need to pierce with a longer back to accommodate for any swelling during the healing process but when the piercing is healed you can return for us to downsize the post length.

One of the biggest differences aside from being able to choose the length is that the backing post goes in first and then you snap the head on. See the photo provided for how the head snaps into the post.

What Size Flatback Should I Wear?

Flatbacks are custom fit to your ear. When purchasing for healed piercings, be sure to select the appropriate size for the piercing where you intend to wear the jewelry.

If you're unsure of your size, we recommend visiting our studio, where we can help you find the right fit, or measure the thickness of your ear in the piercing area.

The posts of our earrings are measured in millimeters. Using a ruler is the best way to measure. Most Rulers shoe centimeters which can be easily converted to millimeters. See the conversion chart below:

Conversion Chart (mm → cm):

  • 4 mm = 0.4 cm
  • 5 mm = 0.5 cm
  • 6 mm = 0.6 cm
  • 7 mm = 0.7 cm
  • 8 mm = 0.8 cm
  • 9 mm = 0.9 cm
  • 10 mm = 1.0 cm
  • 11 mm = 1.1 cm
  • 12 mm = 1.2 cm
